- Quality sequential art stories of 1-10 pages in any genre or theme, with a beginning, a middle, and an end. Cliffhangers are fine if they work.
- Submissions will be by .pdf, but be prepared to make edits to art/letters if needed.
- Your story must begin with the word "Elsewhere ...", as if it exists within the same universe as the rest of the anthology, occurring simultaneously as the other stories, as we cut from one to the next. The "Elsewhere ..." doesn't have to be big or a big deal; it just has to be there at the beginning of your story.
- We'll print the book in color. Be ready to provide 11x17" pages at 300 dpi in .tif, .png, .psd, .ai, or .indd formats. Submissions, again, will be in .pdf.
- Somewhere around PG-13 is probably the best target audience, but we'll consider edgier stuff. It's not going to be an all-ages book, but probably not super hardcore, either.
- Avoid cliche, please. Nothing is excluded from consideration, but use judgment and taste.
- We are not interested in pitches. We want finished pages. Feel free to ask questions, but we won’t decide anything until we see the finished product.
- Multiple submissions are fine; we may print more than one thing from the same person/team.
- It's okay with us if you submit the same material to other publishers. It is your responsibility to check with the other people to make sure it's cool with them.
- You keep all copyrights to your work. We will have the right to distribute and sell it.
- Please fill out a copy of our submission agreement for each team submitting stories. This protects us and you. Please understand that we don't have time to finish all our own ideas, much less steal yours.
- There are no submission or reading fees.
- If your material is accepted, you'll be expected to promote crowdfunding for the print run.
- Each contributing team member will receive 3 free copies of the anthology and be able to order more from UHS at cost plus 15%. Books will have ISBN and barcode, so it will be easy to make deals with local shops. The deals you make for the books you order are your business.
- If crowdfunding surpasses the print run, marketing, and production goals, the surplus will be distributed to each team. How you split that up among your team is your business.
- It's unlikely but possible that we won't get enough submissions, that the crowdfunding won’t meet its goal, etc. If these things happen, we'll let you know.
